The Favorites. (Updated List!)

Hello dolls, I’m back after a very, very long hiatus. My poor little blog had been pushed aside, but have no fear, Jazmin is here!

I wanted to start off again with an updated list of my go-to’s. These tend to change a lot, as I’m always on the look out for better products. I tried to give you a bit of both drugstore and higher end products. Best of both worlds! Of course, this isn’t my complete list, as I have many, many more favorite products, but I figured I could share these few with you for now! Enjoy!

I’m BACK. *Kylie Jenner Lipstick Dupes!

Wowww time flew by! I apologize for the hiatus, life has been crazy busy lately! (Trying to get into nursing school is definitely not one of the easiest things to do!) And makeup and I were on a break. Things just weren’t working out between us. But lately it has found its way back into my life lol. I hope to start posting things more often on here!

Anywho, if you’re into makeup as much as I am, you might have seen Kylie Jenner’s lips all over IG and tumblr. Type in “Kylie Jenner” into Google and her lips are the first thing that pop up haha. She’s been rockin’ those perfect mauvey natural lips like it’s nobody’s business!

Final MAC

After doing some research, I found that she likes to switch between MAC’s Soar and Spice liners (she applies it all over her lips, according to the gal I spoke with at the MAC counter!) and then tops it off with Brave lipstick.

MAC Satin Lipstick in Brave $16

MAC Lip Pencil in Soar/Spice $16

Final Dupe

Lucky for us though, there are cheaper alternatives! Although the NYX Matte lipstick doesn’t have the same creamy satin texture/finish as the Brave lipstick, it does last a pretty good amount of time on your lips. Make sure your lips are nice and moisturized and smooth before you apply it! (And the NYX lippie looks a bit more red in this preview pic than it does in person.) These are the prices for these dupes at ULTA:

NYX Matte Lipstick in Whipped Caviar $6

Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lipliner in Epic $6

NYX Lipliner in Mauve $3.49

That’s a nice little chunk o’ change you’re saving right thurr! Now go get these babies and rock that pretty KJ lip color! ;)

Review: Top 5 Favorites!

Hello my lovelies! I’ve been brainstorming trying to come up with a good post for you guys, and BAM! I thought, “Jaz, why not share your five can’t-go-a-day-without products?!” Pure genius, right? These are my go-to products that I’m always raving about hehe. Now, without further ado!

My TOP 5 Faves:
1. Benefit’s Stay Flawless 15-hour Primer
2. Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup
3. Covergirl’s Lip Perfection Lipstick in Siren
4. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
5. Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

1. Benefit’s Stay Flawless 15-hour Primer claims to help your foundation last all day, improve the look of your skin/complexion, increase your foundation coverage, and enhance your foundation’s performance. Like all primers, it’s supposed to diminish the look of fine lines/wrinkles and pores and provide a base for your foundation. And, of course, help your foundation stay on all day.

I was talking with my gals at ULTA about primers and a couple of them swore by this stuff. Of course, me being the guinea pig of all things makeup, I decided to try it out. And lemme tell you guys, this is gooooood stuff. I was cautious at first, because my skin tends to break out with almost any primer I use. But I didn’t have a problem with this!

Using it is pretty simple. You turn the stick and apply it all over your face and then rub it in with your hands, and immediately apply your foundation afterwards. It doesn’t feel like you just put on a mask either, unlike a lot of primers out there.

I do see a difference when I skip it in my daily routine. I have oily/combination skin most days, but when I use this, it tends to help control the shine throughout the day. My foundation stays looking nice and smooth and I don’t get those blotches on the sides of my nose lmao. Y’all know what I’m talking about!!! Haaaha, I’m not gonna lie, I have fallen asleep with my “face” on (I knowwww, bad bad!) but when I woke up, my foundation still looked pretty dang good. (Don’t try that at home kids, I probably got a zit or two from sleeping with makeup on lol.) I remember getting compliments on my foundation when I worked at ULTA, and I think a lot of it is because of the primer.

Overall, I really do recommend this if you’re looking for a good primer. It’s not sold in drugstores, but you can for sure find it at ULTA for around $32. A little pricey, but worth every penny! :)

2. Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup is a lightweight foundation with light-diffusing spheres that helps blur imperfections and helps your skin look “professionally retouched.” It claims to have antioxidants and anti-wrinkle peptides, so this stuff is more than just your average foundation.

The consistency is unlike other foundations I’ve tried. It’s thin, almost watery, but it has surprisingly good coverage! I was amazed when I first tried it lol. Now, if you don’t know, I’m a full coverage CAKE FACE kinda girl. (Haha, ok maybe not that much, but I do like to have that “perfect” finish to my skin. Don’t judge me.) I had heard that this foundation didn’t provide much coverage but I guess you really do need to try everything for yourself… Or read my reviews ;) lol.

I will tell ya though, this foundation is pretty buildable. I think a lot of it has to do with how you apply it. After lots of trial and error, I find that applying it with a brush (my ELF powder brush), is the way to go. As I apply it, I feel like it blends like a dream, almost like a second skin. And you don’t need a lot of it either. I squirt lots of small drops onto the back of my hand and dab my brush into it, then buff it into my skin. If there are spots that I feel I need more coverage on, I just carefully layer on a bit more with the brush. (That’s also when your concealer comes into play!) I know a lot of gals hate that mask-like feeling a lot of foundations give, but this one definitely doesn’t do that. This foundation does have a slight smell to it, but it goes away as soon as the foundation sets on your skin.

Not only does it look good in person, it also photographs really well. This is always on my requirements for foundations. I HATE HATE HATE that white cast you sometimes get on yo face when taking photos. Lookin’ like a ghost in your pics ain’t cute! But of course, its “light-diffusing spheres,” save the day and your skin looks gawwwgeous in photos!

I like to set it with a little powder, and then I’m good to go for the day. I’d say it lasts about as much as any other foundation, but what I like about this one is because it’s like a second skin, it looks natural all throughout the day. I honestly can’t say much about the antioxidants and anti-wrinkle properties, but I can say that my skin works well with this foundation and it won’t break me out. Which is always important!

All in all, this foundation is pretty much da bomb dot com. I really recommend it to those who are looking for good coverage but don’t like that CAKE FACE feeling haha. Try it out! It’s definitely one of the best foundations I’ve used. And trust me, I’ve used plenty of foundations lol. You can find this gem at ULTA or Sephora for $39. Once again, it’s worth it!

3. Covergirl’s Lip Perfection Lipstick in Siren is a gorgeous hot pink lippy with silk moisturizing properties that keeps your lips from drying out throughout the day and is supposed to help make your lips noticeably smoother in seven days.

I discovered this lipstick a while back, and I liked it, but for some reason it was thrown into the dark depths of my vanity drawer. One day I was looking for a pop of color on my lips and decided to try it out again. I honestly wondered why I ever stopped using it lol. I absolutely love it on days when I want to keep my eye makeup pretty simple. I really think the right shade of lipstick brings everything together.

This specific shade is so very pigmented! I would say it has a matte finish, but when I look closely after I apply it, I can see tiny little glittery specks of pink. I loveeee it lol. Not only that, it STAYS on for a longggg time. I could eat, drink, sleep, dance, kiss, cry, etc. and it won’t budge lol. I know with a lot of long-lasting lipsticks you start getting that dry feeling and you can actually see your lips get all weird and yucky, but this lippy somehow keeps your lips moisturized and smooth! As for the claim about making your lips noticeably smoother in seven days.. I can’t say I noticed a huge difference. But that might be because I don’t really have issues with.. lip smoothness… lol.

This lipstick holds a special place in my heart lol <3  I prefer this to a lot of higher end lipsticks that are twice as much the $.. So if you’re looking for the perfect hot pink lipstick, look no further. You can get this at your local drugstore or at ULTA, and the price ranges from around $6-$9. Go get your hands on one nowwwwwww.

4. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is one of Too Faced’s many popular mascaras. This specific mascara claims to add tonssss of volume and curl with its collagen-fueled formula and has extracts in it to help “nourish, thicken, and lock curl in place.”

Now, I will say that I have a HUGEEE collection of different mascaras, and I’ve tried at least 20 different ones.. Probably more than 20, I lost count lol. Most of them are unfortunately gathering dust in my drawer because I get really picky with my mascara. A lot of the time, the formula just doesn’t work for me. It either is too clumpy, it dries too fast, you can’t add more than one coat, etc. Ohhh, the struggle.

I first tried this mascara at ULTA and I immediately fell in loveee! I don’t know what it is, but this stuff really makes a difference for me. I love how I can add multiple coats and it doesn’t start clumping up and my lashes don’t start sticking together all nasty. When applying it, I like to first focus on getting the mascara onto the roots of my lashes. In other words, I don’t even run the wand all the way through my lashes. You gotta build the volume! Once they start thickening up, I run the wand through to the end, helping lengthen them. Bet ya didn’t know there was a technique to applying mascara, did ya? :P

This mascara isn’t available in a waterproof formula so you can’t wear it to da beach :( or when watching a sad movie. Or when cutting up onions. Darn! Lol but for all the amazing things it does to your lashes, you won’t even focus on that. For $23 (sorry guys, I’m on a roll with these pricey thangs), you can have thick, luscious lashes, coated in pure perfection. Ha. You can find this baby at ULTA or Sephora!

5. Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion is a mild, non-greasy, non-comedogenic moisturizer that hydrates your skin all day long. It helps restore skin’s natural protective barrier, which is much needed after washing off all of the day’s makeup. It’s made for all skin types and helps to soothe dry skin, and you can use this lotion all over your body, not just your face!

With this longggg, dry winter, my skin has gotten pretty dang dry. I decided to give this stuff a shot after seeing it in a lot of YouTube gurus’ skin care regimens. As I said in my Benefit primer review, my skin tends to be on the combination/oily side, so thankfully this lotion doesn’t make my face greasy at all! I feel like a lot of moisturizers either just sit on top of my skin, or don’t moisturize enough. It makes a huge difference when applying your foundation, too. You gotta have that nice, balanced skin and I feel like my skin just drinks this stuff up lol. I love how gentle this lotion is! I only use about a nickel-sized amount and even then I have enough left over to spread on the back of my hands and arms.. (Hmm. Maybe I should start using a dime-sized amount lol.)

Point is, this stuff is da bee’s knees. It will forever be part of my skin care regimen! It runs for about $8 for a 16oz bottle at your local drugstore. Go get thattt shizzzz.

AAANNNDDDDD the end! Lol, this was one of my longer posts but when I like a product I can talk about it all day haha. These are the products that work best for my needs and my skin, but of course, they might not work for everyone. You guys should really give them a try, though. Let me know what you guys think! ;)

<3 Lots of Love,

Ombré Lip Tutorial

Hello world! Back with an ombré lip tutorial. Ombré, I feel so french saying that word hehe…

I wanted to show you guys another quick pictorial that was easy to follow. Now, of course you don’t have to go with the bold purple colors I chose for this look lol. Go with whatever colors you’re comfortable with. Rule of thumb is to just choose a lip liner that’s a few shades darker than your lipstick. Easy enough, right? Let me know what you guys think! ;)

Products used:
Benefit’s Stay Flawless 15-hour Primer
MAC Lip Liner in Currant
Milani Lipstick in Uptown Mauve
Hard Candy’s Glamoflauge Concealer in Medium

Start off with clean, smooth lips. (Exfoliate to rub off all those dead skin cells!) And then apply your primer. Yes, there are lip primers out there, but I just used the primer I use on the rest of my face. This will ensure that the lipstick goes on smoothly and lasts longer!

Begin to apply your lip liner! This is the most time consuming step lol. Yes, you should try to be neat, but a little trick I like to use is to line right outside your lips to create the illusion of fuller lips! If it ends up a little messy, no worries. We will go back with the concealer in the end to clean everything up.

It’s looking kinda messy but it’ll look a lot better haha. Start filling those babies in! But be sure to use a lighter hand as you get closer to the center of your lips.

My favorite step that brings everything together lol. Apply your lipstick over the lip liner! You should see a nice gradual fade from light to dark!

Time to clean up and make those edges nice and clean. Take a lip brush and use your concealer to go around the edges of your lips. And……

You’ve got yo ombré lips!

Pretty nice, don’t ya think?! Lol I hope you guys liked this one!

Winged Liner Tutorial

Ahhh yes, my first ever makeup tutorial! I’ve been sick the past few days and had to keep pushing this back but it’s finally here! I wanted to start the blog off with a quick and easy-to-follow picture tutorial. I always get questions on how to make that sharp, perfect wing. Like many of you reading this post; I was once lost too, and would end up with ugly, choppy triangles at the ends of my eyes…

But look no further! The secret is here… lol.

Now on to the tutorial!

Products Used:
Sonia Kashuk Angled Eyeliner Brush
Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black
NYC liquid eyeliner

Now, many gals will ask, “But why do you use gel eyeliner and then liquid on top?”.. I think it just makes the application a lot easier. The gel liner is a lot more forgiving than the liquid liner. (At least I think it is lol.)

Start off with a naked eye. (Or on top of your eyeshadow, of course.)

Starting at the inner corner of your eye, begin drawing a line. It should get thicker towards the end of your eye. You should end up with something like this:

When making the wing, follow the natural shape of your eye. Think of it as an extension of your waterline… Refer to zee image below:

Once you’ve drawn your line, it should look a little something like this!:

After you have your guide, it’s pretty much a piece of cake from here. All you’ve got to do now is connect the wing! Draw a line from the end of the wing inwards, and you’ll end up with a nice little triangle.

Fill that bad boy in!! You can always just use the gel liner but I like to go over my oh-so impeccable wing with the NYC liquid liner to make it darker and sharper.

aaaaaand STEP SIX:

Of course, what’s an eye look without mascara, right? Apply your favorite mascara, and you have your finished look!

Hope you guys can follow along and learn from the tutorial. Let me know how it goes! Feedback is always good. Thank you and lotsa love from me to you!
